Getting ready for a nationally televised performance, Matthew Morrison was busy rehearsing for "A Capitol Fourth" in Washington, D.C. on Sunday afternoon (July 3).
The "Glee" star took to the stage alongside Tony-nominated Broadway vet Kelli O’Hara as the pair are among a long list of scheduled entertainers at the PBS run showcase.
With Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor Jimmy Smits tending to hosting duties, other acts slated to perform include Steve Martin performing with the Steep Canyon Rangers, Josh Groban, and rock ‘n roll legend Little Richard performing with the cast of the Broadway smash hit Million Dollar QuartetJordin Sparks.
With the event set to air from the West Lawn of the United States Capitol from 8:00 to 9:30PM ET, executive producer Jerry Colbert said of this year's offering, "It’s a tremendously uplifting feeling as hundreds of thousands of Americans join together on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol, singing the National Anthem as the National Symphony Orchestra plays."
Colbert added, "As we watch the nation’s capital light up with fireworks, it helps us forget our differences and remember that we are all Americans. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate our freedom and the nation’s birthday.”
